After Nickelodeon’s external rebrand, the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise style guide needed to be updated to align with the new look — with an emphasis on being social-first. To do so, I needed to pare down and bring together over two decades of accumulated graphic assets to form a cohesive identity to guide the SpongeBob accounts.
To thrive on the “smallest” screen, high contrast colors and rich textures that call back to the franchises’ iconic stars were chosen for their ability to “stop scrolling” on social feeds. This diverse visual palette exists seamlessly within the larger Nick social ecosystem and highlights the endless fun of Bikini Bottom.
